Garlic Chives
Allium tuberosa
This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List
Garlic Chives or Allium tuberosa (a member of the onion family) is a very versatile herb that adds a garlic/onion flavour to fish, poultry eggs savoury dishes and sauces. However, it should not be dismissed as just a culinary herb because it makes an excellent garden border and even a bedding plant.
Easy to grow in a prepared, well mulched bed (they do not like root disturbance), they can be sown all year round in sub-tropical climes and from spring to autumn in temperature and colder climes. They prefer full sun to part shade, germinate reasonably quickly and mature in just 8 weeks.
Garlic Chives may be harvested without disturbing the bulb and will come again. Seasonally, the bulbs multiply. Preparation is easy, simply wash and chop up, the flowers are also edible and may be added to salads.
Offered is a packet of 100 seeds approximately (counted by weight) complete with Grownotes to assist you in their propagation.
