This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.
Celosia or Cockscomb is a native of tropical Africa where it prefers well-drained, moist, fertile soils, though it will tolerate dryness. A full sun plant that tolerates heat well.
Growing to 60cm with a spread of 300cm; leaves are alternate, entire (seldom lobed), linear to lanceolate to 50mm long, green but occasionally red; flowers are a spiked plume in bright reds, pinks, yellows and oranges.
Propagation by seed occurs readily.
