Eucalyptus erythrocorys

A native of Western Australia where it prefers medium to heavy well-drained soils in an open, sunny position. It is drought hardy but dislikes frost.
An evergreen tree, that grows to a height of 10 metres (30 ft) with a spread of 4 metres (12 ft). The stem is erect, with straggling branches, smooth, white bark and an open textured crown. The leaves are narrow, lanceolate, tapering, dull dark green and 25 cm long. The flower buds are brilliant red and square, with a raised cross on the cap, occurring in groups of three. The flowers are bright red and yellow, appearing in autumn followed by large, valved capsules (gumnuts) with undulating margins.
