Narrow-leafed Peppermint
Eucalyptus radiata
(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)
This native Australian tree forms a wide canopy with dark green leaves which have a peppermint scent when crushed. It is endemic to south-eastern Australia down to Tasmania. It grows in forest and woodland, usually in cooler or wetter habitats.
An evergreen tree growing to an average of 10 – 50 metres (164 ft). It has rough, finely fibrous or flaky grey bark on the trunk and branches, usually smooth grey bark on branches thinner than 80 mm (3.1 in).
Flowering occurs from October to January and the flowers are white. It can tolerate both highly fertile organic soils to very poor infertile soils and does prefer full sun.
Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (includes chaff) with propagation notes. Buyers should read the disclaimer below.
DISCLAIMER.
All Eucalyptus/Corymbia seed is harvested from the wild under licence and is sold as a combination of fertilised/unfertilised (chaff) seed. In many cases, it is not possible to tell the difference. The ratio of fertilised seed varies greatly and depends wholly on weather conditions prior to seed set. Standard industry practice is to offer 200 seeds per packet which translate to something like 10 to 30 viable seeds (which have not been counted). If the above is not acceptable to you, please do not purchase any of the above seeds.
All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
