A native of tropical Australia, this tree prefers light to medium, moist soils in an open, sunny position. It dislikes both drought and frost.
An evergreen tree, it can grow to 10 to 30 metres (35 to 100ft) with a spread of 5 metres. The stem is stout and erect with long ascending branches; the bark is pale, papery, thick and spongy. The leaves are ash-green coloured and 20 cm long. The flowers are creamy-white, pink or green, 20cm long in spikes and are nectar-rich. The flowers appear in winter.
Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (including chaff) with propagation notes.
